Many SUVs available today are optioned with rear-seat DVD players that can help make any trip more enjoyable, regardless if that trip is around town or across the country.

Ford Flex (2010+)

Now discontinued, the Flex is easy to find and many models were fitted with two separate DVD players in the back of the front seat headrests. Look for the Titanium model if possible, as it has the most bells and whistles. Nevertheless, the Limited trim level is most likely to be equipped with the DVD system and a few of the SEL trimmed Flexes will have it as well. The Flex can be had in front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive and comes with either a naturally aspirated V6 or a twin-turbo Ecoboost V6.
Dodge Durango (2013+)
If you love muscle cars, then you’ll love the Durango that seems to be heavily styled after its Challenger and Charger siblings. Similar to the Flex, the 2015+ Durango has a two-screen, two DVD player system available in three trim levels. Look for it in the Limited, Citadel, and R/T trims. The dual DVD setup can be easily spotted in the front seatbacks and comes fully equipped with HDMI and RCA jacks as well in case you want to tie in another form of player. In early DVD-equipped Durangos, there’s a singular screen that drops down from the center of the second row. Both the V6 and V8 engines found in the Durango are well respected as reliable and punchy units.
Honda Pilot (2006+)
A perennial all-star in the SUV class, the Pilot is a great all-around vehicle that’s capable of reliably carrying people in comfort for years without major issues. Available with two or three rows, the Pilot doesn’t have the DVD player package in as many trim levels, but it can still be found in the touring, EX-L, and the Special Edition variant. Look for the singular system in the ceiling of the second row that flips down when in use. The Trim level determines the control layout for the player, but the overall experience is the same. The 3.5-liter V6 under the hood of the Pilot is one of the most reliable and well-known drivetrains we’ve seen.
Nissan Pathfinder (2013+)
The Pathfinder is maybe the most rugged of our choices and that’s part of why we like it so much. It’s hard not to like the thought of being able to easily take the family out into the wilderness and get away from the world a bit. But it’s also nice not leaving behind modern luxuries like the dual DVD players inside all three-row Pathfinders. They’re outfitted with 7-inch screens, wireless headsets, and even a remote control. That’s a great package that’s sure to keep passengers entertained while you travel to your destination. The Pathfinder Platinum is the one to look for here, as it’s the most likely to be optioned with the DVD system. Also keep in mind that depending on the year that you choose, many of these Pathfinders may still be within the original 7 year/100,000-mile warranty that they originally came with.
Cadillac Escalade (2009+)
It should come as no shock that the Escalade is often outfitted with a very nice DVD entertainment package. Everything inside of this well-known SUV is intended to be luxurious and opulent. What’s interesting is that, depending on the one you get, the system can be dramatically different. The regular Escalade from 2015 on comes with a beautiful 9-inch single display that drops down from the ceiling whereas the larger ESV model gets a dual LCD display setup. Older models can be found with dual displays in the back of the front seat headrests and a third screen that drops down from the center of the ceiling. Regardless of the one you get, each of them received high marks for clarity and ease of use upon release.
