What’s New for the 2024 Ford Edge?

There aren’t any big changes that happened with the 2024 Ford Edge. However, it’s a bonus for fans of the Edge the crossover that the 2024 model was even made. There was strong speculation that the 2023 Ford Edge would be the last one. That wasn’t the case. However, the 2024 Ford Edge will be the last one in the United States. That’s because the Oakville, Ontario, Canada plant that makes the Edge will be switching over to focus on electrified Ford vehicles.

It’s probably not surprising that the 2024 Edge is unchanged for the most part. There are certainly no major upgrades, but Ford’s connected built-in navigation is free for three years instead of just one. Also, Ford’s streaming service is complimentary for a full year instead of only 30 days.

2024 Ford Edge Powertrain 7.5/10

Almost every 2024 Ford Edge trim utilizes a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and eight-speed automatic transmission that’s capable of churning out 250 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. However, the ST trim gets a powerful 2.7-liter turbocharged V6 engine and a seven-speed automatic. That version makes 335 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque. All models use an all-wheel drive (AWD) system.

That base provides enough power to handle most commonplace driving situations, but the ST does have a few extra elements that are included in the optional high-performance braking package: 21-inch summer tires, upgraded brake pads, and larger front brake rotors.

The ST can competently compete with the likes of the Honda Passport, Chevy Blazer, and Nissan Murano when it comes to fuel efficiency. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) gives it a rating of 21 miles per gallon (mpg) in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. With the turbo engine, the 2024 Ford Edge ST delivers 19 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway.

2024 Ford Edge Interior 7/10

The 2024 Ford Edge offers fairly upscale features like seats that are made of either synthetic or genuine quilted leather upholstery, power-adjustable and heated front seats on some trims, and a heated, leather-wrapped steering wheel. The setup isn’t necessarily impressive, but it doesn’t need to be. The simple layout on the dash is easy to use.

Not only is it easy, but the two-row 2024 Ford Edge cabin is also spacious. Legroom measures 42.6 inches in front and 40.6 inches in the back. Five full-size passengers in the back row is pushing it, but it is possible. There’s enough space to be comfortable and the seats hold passengers nicely in short or even longer drives. The cargo area equals out to 39.2 cu. ft. with all seats upright. If the seats are folded in a 60/40 split, then that space expands to 73.4 cu. ft. Storage cubbies in the cabin help hold smaller items

2024 Ford Edge Technology Features 8/10

The Edge is decently stacked with the latest infotainment. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hotspot, in-dash navigation, a 12-inch touchscreen display, a six or nine-speaker audio system, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, LED lights all around, and rear and front-facing cameras. They’re all here at certain trim levels. Even an automated parking system can be had as part of the Lux package. There’s also satellite radio, four USB ports, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a power liftgate, a push-button start, and proximity keyless entry.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) hasn’t rated the 2024 Ford Edge, but since the 2024 model is essentially the 2023 model, let’s talk a bit about that. The 2023 Ford Edge received good or acceptable ratings in every category except headlights. The only area that received an acceptable / poor rating from the IIHS was the headlights. The reason for the split rating was that it varied by trim level.

Meanwhile, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave the 2024 Ford Edge a perfect five-star overall safety rating. It received green checkmarks on the forward collision warning, lane departure warning, crash imminent braking, and dynamic brake support.

2024 Ford Edge Trims & Pricing

Five trims, two powertrains, and lots of features. It all ranges from $38,000 to $47,000, so there’s only about a $10,000 difference between the base trim and the top trim level here.

SE – $38,365

The SE is the base with standard 18-inch wheels, LED headlights, a blind-spot warning with a cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assist, a forward collision warning with automatic braking, keyless entry, and a push-button start. The infotainment screen doesn’t start small. You automatically get a 12-inch touchscreen at the base level. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, a Wi-Fi hotspot, four USB ports, a six-speaker stereo system, and dual-zone automatic climate control are all included, too. The upholstery is cloth, and the front seats are manually adjustable at this level, but the front seat upgrades (like heated, ventilated, and powered seats) are available.

The ST-Line adds a few sportier elements. Black exterior trim, fog lights, a lower front fascia, and 20-inch gloss black wheels make it a sharper vehicle. ST – $47,205

Finally, the ST has a sport suspension, 20-inch black-painted wheels, and active noise cancellation. Inside is leather upholstery and front sport seats with silver stitching. A 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system is also part a benefit of the ST.

2024 Ford Edge Overall Value 7/10

The Ford Edge doesn’t have some modern features, like a 360-degree overhead camera. It doesn’t have a head-up display, either. Still, for a SUV that’s on its way out, it’s pretty up to date with whatever amenities a driver or owner could want.

Ford has a few warranties that come along with the purchase of a new 2024 Ford Edge. First, there’s the basic warranty that lasts three years or 36,000 miles. A drivetrain warranty and roadside assistance warranty both last for five years or 60,000 miles. There’s also a warranty for rust. That one lasts five years and an unlimited number of miles.

There’s not that much to complain about here. The 2024 Ford Edge isn’t a luxury mid-size SUV. It could use an update, but obviously that’s not happening, so it does well at what it does. A modern look, updated technology, good safety scores, an OK interior, and enough power to cover the needs of most drivers. If the second-generation crossover is going out, at least it’s doing it in a respectable way.
