The 2023 Shelby F-150 & Mustang Centennial Editions pay homage to Ford’s favorite tuner and team-builder Carroll Shelby
Shelby American is back at it again with a new pair of furious Fords that honor Carroll Shelby’s 100th birthday. One is the 2023 Centennial Edition Ford Shelby F-150, a pickup that’s available with 800 horsepower and a bunch of special performance mods. The brand’s Carroll Shelby Centennial Edition Mustang is a proper spiritual successor to the GT350 and GT500.
Shelby American is making just 100 of each and both vehicles are far more than just stock vehicles with a fancy badge and some flashy paintwork. Each one gets a bespoke Shelby-focused interior but it’s the speed you’re here for. Here’s a deep dive into the Shelby F-150 & Mustang Centennial Editions.

This isn’t just a Ford F-150 with a bit more power or some fancy badging. In fact, Shelby American went to the trouble of adding quite a lot of modifications that set it apart. The FOX shocks are similar to the ones from the F-150 Raptor, the 22-inch wheels are unique, the brakes are bigger, and there’s a Borla exhaust to create beautiful music.
The stock 400 horsepower V8 from the base Ford F-150 Lariat 4X4 SuperCrew is still here but buyers can add a supercharger should they desire it. If they do, it’ll also include a high-flow air filter, a billet throttle body, and high-flow fuel injectors.

“Carroll loved motoring both on and off the road, especially in rugged terrain. He would trek across the desert on both two and four-wheel vehicles. His Terlingua, Texas, ranch even owned the first production Ford Bronco. We’re honoring that Shelby heritage with a special off-road truck that recalls his adventures,” said Gary Patterson, president of Shelby American.
Those who don’t want to go the supercharged route can buy the completed truck for $129,495 through Shelby or an associated dealer. The 800 hp version is available via the same sources but will set one back $138,495.

Keeping with the tradition of high-speed antics, the Carroll Shelby Centennial Edition Mustang comes with 750 hp. To pack that many ponies under the vented hood, the team at Shelby added a supercharger and a Borla exhaust along with the requisite tuning to keep it from blowing up. It also adds wider fenders, 20×11 Shelby wheels, a performance radiator, and a retuned suspension.

“This new, limited-edition car celebrates Carroll Shelby and honors his many achievements,” said Vince LaViolette, Shelby American Vice President of Operations and Chief of R&D. “To properly honor him required us to build a car that was truly born to run. Our new Carroll Shelby Centennial Edition Mustang is a well-balanced car that is far more than just a horsepower upgrade. We also sharpened the handling and enhanced the styling of the world-class 5.0L V8 Mustang GT. It delivers all the performance that Carroll required to have his name on a car. We’re so confident that he’d approve that we are throwing in a black Stetson like the one he wore, with each car.”
That’s a sweet enough deal for buyers that Shelby is already sold out of this Mustang variant. Buyers dropped at least $49,995 not including the cost of the original Ford Mustang itself. The 100 spots sold out in just four days. The F-150 is still available… for now.
