What’s New for the 2021 Lincoln Navigator?
A few years into its fourth generation, the 2021 Lincoln Navigator is due for a mid-cycle refresh soon. As such, this full-size luxury SUV enters 2021 with minimal updates, one of which is the addition of Lincoln’s signature Flight Blue color to the exterior palette. Additionally, Black Label trim picks up a new Special Edition package that has a black painted roof and monochromatic exterior accents finished in black including the front grille, 22” wheels, roof rails, and mirror caps. Way back in 1998, Lincoln kicked off the American approach to gigantic luxury SUVs and 20+ years later, the Navigator is still going strong.

2021 Lincoln Navigator Powertrain
All 2021 Lincoln Navigators are fitted with a 3.5L twin-turbo V6 making 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. The 10-speed automatic, controlled via Lincoln’s smart-looking “Piano Key” shifter, runs all that juice to the rear wheels, or all four if so equipped. The fully independent suspension sports adaptive dampers to offer composed handling and selectable drive modes include Conserve, Excite, and Deep Conditions. Big wheels look great on this land yacht but be aware, those size 22s have the potential for a brittle ride. Four-wheel drive is optional, adding about $2700, though it is standard on Black Labels and features a 2-speed transfer case for high and low ranges as well as a Snow Climb driving mode.
Towing & Payload
To achieve the 2021 Lincoln Navigator’s max trailering capacity of 8,700 pounds, you’ll want a RWD model with the Heavy Duty Trailer Tow package. It adds a Class IV hitch, 7-pin wiring harness, trailer brake controller, and sway control. Pro Trailer Backup Assist is also part of the package and allows drivers to steer their trailer in reverse using a simple console-mounted knob. An available surround-view camera helps by showing a full exterior shot on the central display and standard Side Wind Stabilization automatically counteracts wind gusts, a helpful feature when pulling an enclosed trailer.

Rear-wheel drive models come with an EPA estimated fuel economy of 16 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway. For L and 4WD models, lop off 1 and 2 mpg from the highway figure, respectively. Fortunately, regular octane fuel is acceptable though Lincoln notes performance is higher when running premium.
Interior, Comfort, & Cargo Space
Comfort abounds inside a 2021 Lincoln Navigator with heated first and second row seats covered in leather on all models. Front seats also come with ventilation and upper trims sport up to 30-way adjustability plus massage functionality. HVAC is triple-zoned, active noise cancellation tech keeps things serene, and the available Vista Roof opens the cabin up to the sky. Second row captain’s seating with a central pass-through is standard though a console or bench can be selected. With both rear rows folded, a cavernous 103 cubic feet of storage volume is on hand or 120 cubes for the extra-long Navigator L.
Entertainment & Technology
All 2021 Lincoln Navigators feature a digital instrument panel and 10” touchscreen infotainment display with phone mirroring software, Wi-Fi, and navigation with real-time traffic. 110V power and USB ports for all three rows keep devices powered up and the Rear Seat Entertainment system features a pair of 10” screens mounted to front seatbacks with wireless headphones. Personal Profiles save settings for audio, climate, seats, and driver assist features. All Navigator models come with a 14-speaker stereo. However, stepping up to Black Label trim brings the concert-quality Revel Ultima stereo with 20 speakers as well as a heads-up-display.
Safety Features
Standard safety features include an SOS post-crash alert system and airbags covering frontal and side impacts for first and second row occupants plus a full-length canopy system. This helps the 2021 Lincoln Navigator earn a 5-star crash rating from NHTSA, as does Co-Pilot 360. It comes standard with automated emergency braking, pre-collision assist, and automatic high beam controls. There is also a parking system that handles steering while the driver manages shifting, throttle, and braking. As the entry-level 2021 Lincoln Navigator, Standard trim is the only one that does not offer the long-body L configuration. The all-LED exterior lighting enables “Lincoln Embrace”, an owner greeting feature that projects the Lincoln logo onto the ground, makes the door handles glow, and engages running lamps in something of a light show. Adaptive front headlamps bend to illuminate curvy roads at night and Co-Pilot 360 is the standard suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) that includes lane keeping assist and blind spot monitoring.
Ebony or Cappuccino leather with heated and ventilated front seats coddles occupants, as does the tri-zone climate control, active noise control power-reclining third row. Drivers will appreciate the heated, leather-wrapped steering wheel with power-adjustable tilt and telescoping along with rain-sensing wipers and adjustable pedals. A 12” digital gauge cluster displays key vehicle information and a 10” touchscreen handles infotainment duty. Apple and Android integration is standard as is Wi-Fi, Qi charging, and voice-activated navigation with 6 years of real-time traffic included.
Reserve – $83,785
At Reserve level, buyers can select the stretched L body for $3200 to add more rear cargo space. Exterior improvements are the 22” rims, power-deployable running boards, and panoramic “Vista Roof.” Two-tone Ebony and Russet leather is available inside with “Perfect Position” seats that feature 24-way adjustment. Adaptive cruise control is added to the ADAS list, as is a 360-degree external camera view. The $420 Cargo Convenience package makes it easy to manage the huge cargo area with a tiered system and 4-way configurable partition. For a taste of Black Label trappings, the $2500 Luxury Package adds massaging front seats with ventilation and the 20-speaker Revel Ultima audio system.
Black Label – $99,950
Also available in size L and only built with 4WD, Black Label Navigators unlock access to the $1750 Chroma paint options in Molten Gold or Crystal Blue. As well, a limited-slip differential, Pro Trailer Backup Assist, and integrated trailer brake controller are on hand. An illuminated Lincoln Star in the front grille and black painted wheels add pizazz to the outside while the interior is spruced up with Venetian leather upholstery, illuminated seatbelt buckles, and 30-way adjustable “Perfect Position” front seats. A heads-up-display is standard and the $6995 Special Edition package shows off a monochromatic exterior scheme.
Warranties
A 4-year/50,000-mile vehicle warranty plus 6-year/70,000-mile powertrain and roadside assistance warranty comes with all 2021 Lincoln Navigators, as does one year of complimentary maintenance. However, Black Label models add pickup and delivery service whereby Lincoln shows up at your doorstep with a loaner, takes your car in for service, and drops it back off when complete.
