What’s New for the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica
For 2021, the Chrysler Pacifica continues its near 40-year evolution from the simple Dodge Caravan of yore to a straight-up luxury family hauler. A new Pinnacle trim sits atop the heap with suede headliner, fancy upholstery and a pair of second-row lumbar throw pillows. For Snow Belt customers, the all-wheel-drive (AWD) components have been upgraded and are now available on all gas-powered models. The suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) grows with new standard and optional tech while the front fascia and lighting designs are refreshed. On the infotainment front, a 10” touchscreen display is now standard across the lineup, running Uconnect 5 – the latest iteration of this software.

2021 Chrysler Pacifica Powertrain
The basic 2021 Chrysler Pacifica consists of a 3.6-liter V6 making 287 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque powering the front wheels via a 9-speed automatic transmission. AWD, optional on lower trims and standard further up the trim ladder, runs in the background and will transfer available torque as needed to the wheels with more traction.
Opting for a hybrid Pacifica brings a pair of electric motors and 16 kWh lithium-ion battery to the powertrain party for a combined 260 horsepower. Chrysler will assist owners in coordinating home installation of a Level II charger through their third party partner, Qmerit, to offer quick charging of the plug-in system and the ability to schedule charging during off-peak hours.
2021 Chrysler Pacifica Fuel Economy & MPG
All 2021 Chrysler Pacifica models benefit from idle stop/start tech and active front grille shutters to improve aerodynamics. For gasoline powered models, that helps achieve 19 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway for FWD versions. Adding AWD brings those EPA estimates down to 17 and 25, respectively.
Opting for the hybrid powertrain means 82 MPGe of efficiency are on tap, which translates to 30 mpg combined. Regenerative braking is used and 32 miles of all-electric driving are possible which, when adding in a fully fueled gas motor, means over 500 miles of bladder-busting driving range. As well, hybrid models still qualify for the $7500 federal tax credit.
Interior, Comfort, & Cargo Space
Stow ‘n Go is the Chrysler Pacifica pièce de résistance thanks to simple operation and the resultant flat load floor. When the seats aren’t stowed, those under floor spaces allow for ample storage. Unfortunately, this feature doesn’t work with hybrid models due the battery pack being in the way, but on all Pacificas, the second-row middle seat can be folded down or easily removed to create quick third row access.
Leather upholstery is on hand for Touring L models and up but the driver’s seat has power adjustability including 4-way lumbar support on all trims. Automatic climate controls are split into three zones and Limited models feature heated and ventilated front seats, laminated front door glass and a power folding third row. Top-spec Pinnacle Pacificas come with the Ultra console, power-adjustable front passenger seat, and triple-paned sunroof that gives every row a skyward view.
Entertainment & Technology
Faster processing power from Uconnect 5 and wireless connection for Apple and Android smartphones make the huge 10” infotainment display that much better, especially as it is all standard equipment for 2021 Chrysler Pacifica models. A six-speaker stereo is also standard, but audiophiles will want the available Harman Kardon system with its 19 speakers and 10” subwoofer.
The new FamCAM network of interior cameras allows front row folks to keep an eye on those in the back including rear-facing child seat passengers. Up to 12 USB ports throughout the cabin are available as is 115V power, Qi wireless phone charging and Wi-Fi. The Uconnect Theater system consists of dual 10” monitors on front seatbacks, wireless headphones, built-in games, HDMI ports, Blu-Ray capability, and more.
Safety Features
The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica earned a 5-star rating from NHTSA, thanks in part to the eight standard airbags and half-dozen active safety features under the SafetyTec Plus umbrella. That includes pedestrian AEB, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, and lane keeping assist as standard equipment. An optional Safety Sphere package adds ParkSense, which will handle steering duty for parallel parking and a 360-degree exterior surround view camera.

Touring – $37,315
With the entry-level Touring trim, buyers will find 17” alloy wheels, body-colored exterior trim, LED lighting front to back, and heated side mirrors. Front-wheel-drive (FWD) is standard as is the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 but AWD can be selected for an additional $3000 and the Hybrid model starts at $41,490. Creature comforts include an acoustic windshield, active noise cancellation tech, triple-zoned climate controls and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
Chrysler’s SafetyTec ADAS suite is included here as is Uconnect 5, the company’s latest infotainment software. It is controlled via the centrally mounted 10” touchscreen that includes wireless integration of Apple and Android phone mirroring. A dual-pane sunroof can be added for $1595 and the $895 “S” Appearance package brings black 18” rims, black accents, premium cloth upholstery, and a host of “S” badges inside and out.
Touring L – $40,615
Gloss black and bright chrome accents dress up Touring L models outside and a 7” full-color digital instrument panel increases the level of tech. All-wheel-drive is available as is the Hybrid version, which adds $5800 to the bottom line.
Additional standard features include heated front seats and steering wheel, McKinley perforated leather upholstery, and sunshades for second and third row occupants. For $2295, the Premium and Safety Sphere Group nets an upgraded Alpine audio system, improved vehicle insulation, navigation, and more ADAS like semi-autonomous parking.
Limited – $50,310
Cresting 50-grand, the Chrysler Pacifica Limited is equipped with AWD, 18” alloys, a triple-pane sunroof, and vehicle telematics. Like every 2021 Pacifica, there is a hybrid option that also contains Limited features like hands-free operation of the sliding doors and liftgate, Wi-Fi hotspot, Nappa leather upholstery, and the integrated Stow ‘n Vac, RIDGID branded vehicle vacuum. The only option with Limited trim is the Red “S” Appearance package that brings snazzy red leather seats to the party.
Pinnacle – $55,590
New this year, Pinnacle trim is loaded to the gills with size-20 wheels, a 19-speaker Harman Kardon stereo, the FamCAM interior camera system, and quilted caramel-colored Nappa leather seating. Berber carpet, a suede headliner, and second row lumbar pillows continue the fancy fest while Uconnect Theater adds dual 10” screens to front seatbacks and includes a Blu-Ray DVD player, built-in games, and wireless headphones.
Warranties
The basic vehicle warranty on a new 2021 Chrysler Pacifica lasts for 3 years or 36,000 miles. A term of 5 years or 60,000 miles applies to the powertrain components and roadside assistance. Rust perforations are covered for unlimited mileage during the first five years of ownership and the hybrid battery pack comes with 10 years or 100,000 miles of warranty protection.
