Chrysler’s venerable Pentastar 3.6L V6 is the base motor on the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee, making 293 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Or you can select the brawny 5.7L V8 with its 375 horses and 390 torques, available on Overland and Summit models.
A recent addition is the 4xe PHEV configuration – which is sold with 4WD only – that blends a turbocharged 2.0L inline-4 with a pair of electric motors and battery pack to the tune of 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. Regardless of propulsion, all Grand Cherokees work with an 8-speed automatic to spin the rear wheels.

Strictly a two-row affair with five seats, though Jeep does sell a separate three-row version, the 2023 Grand Cherokee comes upholstered in leather on every model except the base Laredo that is trimmed in cloth.

Rear passengers can also enjoy fully climatized cushions however, expect to pay nearly $70,000 for such amenities. Dual-zone automatic climate control is standard but quad-zone is available as is a panoramic sunroof, acoustic lamination on all glass, noise cancellation tech, and customizable LED cabin lighting. Tack on the wood trim, Berber floor mats, and illuminated door sill plates found on Summit models and above, and you might think you’re sitting in a Cadillac.

Wireless connection for Apple CarPlay and Android is also included across the lineup, though you’ll need at least a Limited to access built-in navigation with live traffic details.

Last but not least is the audiophile special, a custom McIntosh audio system with a whopping 19 speakers, an amplifier, and a 10-inch subwoofer. It’ll run you $1,875 as a stand-alone option but is included in the Summit Reserve.
Every 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee comes with a robust suite of advanced safety nets including adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with automated emergency braking, lane keeping, and blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Automatic high beams are included on the Limited and above, but the slickest stuff requires a package or Summit model. Highlights include semi-autonomous active driving assist, park assist that handles steering for parallel parking maneuvers, and a night-vision camera that can identify animals and people.
Base Laredos feature 17-inch alloys, full LED lighting, cloth seating, and the 8.4-inch infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration.

Tack on all the Summit Reserve 4xe options to find an eye-watering price tag of $85,000. Granted, you’ll have the PHEV powertrain and McIntosh stereo but man, that’s a whole lot of money for a Grand Cherokee.
Jeep’s warranty includes a 3-year/36,000-mile vehicle term and a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain term. As well, they match Hyundai with three years or 36,000 miles of complimentary maintenance.
