The 2024 Lincoln Corsair is more than an Escape in fancy duds. We look at the interior, powertrain, and more in our review.

What’s New for the 2024 Lincoln Corsair?

The 2024 Lincoln Corsair is part of the brand’s first generation and comes in three trims with two different available powertrains. Front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive are both available. A large 13.2-inch infotainment system is also part of the Corsair along with a 2,000-lb towing capacity and LED exterior lighting. This small luxury-focused SUV also comes with an extensive driver safety aid package.

Lincoln offers the 2024 Corsair with no significant changes. Instead, two small adjustments are made. First, the Standard trim level is now called Premier. Secondly, Lincoln now offers four years of free subscription to the ActiveGlide driver aid system.

2024 Lincoln Corsair Powertrain 7.5/10

Lincoln employs a 250-hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine under the hood of most Corsair models. It develops 275 lb-ft of torque and sends that power to the front or all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.

According to the EPA, it gets 22 mpg in the city and 29 on the highway when in 2WD guise. Adding AWD includes a penalty on fuel economy which drops those figures to 21 and 28 respectively. That’s the same as it was for last year’s Corsair.

Buyers who select the Grand Touring model get a hybrid drivetrain that combines a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with a small battery and electric motor along with full-time AWD. It makes 266 hp but leverages a continuously variable transmission to route power to the wheels.

That CVT gearbox is far less engaging but it helps the hybrid Corsair achieve up to 34 mpg in the city and 32 on the highway. It also offers up to 28 miles of all-electric range. That helps it make it onto our list of the most fuel-efficient compact SUVs.

While both powertrains offer decent horsepower neither is particularly engaging from behind the wheel. Rivals like the Porsche Macan, Genesis GV70, and BMW X3 offer a lot more enjoyment. The Corsair is focused on providing a ride that pampers its occupants. On that front it’s impressive. On top of that, this little SUV will tow up to 2,000 pounds. Once again, that’s not class-leading but it’s decent and more than enough for many weekend toys. Its innate reliability put it on our list of the most reliable luxury compact SUVs.

2024 Lincoln Corsair Interior 8/10

The big draw for any Lincoln is comfort and the Corsair might be one of the most impressive in the family but not for obvious reasons. On the obvious side of the coin, the luxurious faux leather is quite nice and the real stuff in the upper trims is even better. The seats are supportive and enveloping. Buyers can even add 24-way power-adjustable massaging front seats. Heated rear seats are also available and the available panoramic sunroof is a nice benefit too.

What makes the Corsair so impressive though is that it’s built atop the same chassis as the Ford Escape. Having recently reviewed that car it’s notably more harsh than the Corsair and we bet that the available adaptive suspension has a lot to do with it. The standard Corsair comes with independent suspension that helps too.

Beyond that, the Corsair also benefits from additional sound deadening and active noise cancellation. That’s the same kind of tech you might find in a high-end set of headphones but this time for the entire Corsair cabin.

Behind the second row is up to 27.6 cubic feet of cargo space. That’s a bit more than in a rival like the Genesis G70 but less than the Lexus RX. Fold those seats down and cargo volume expands to 57.6 cubic feet. Again, that’s in the middle of the pack. Put all of these features together though and the Corsair is one of the better options in the segment if luxury is all one cares about. It certainly offers more than something like the Cadillac XT5.

2024 Lincoln Corsair Technology Features 8.25/10

2024 Lincoln Corsair - lincoln.com

Lincoln includes a rich technology suite in the Corsair that we wish more companies would attempt to match. Things kick off with a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster with configurable menus, various infographics, and sharp resolution. A 13.2-inch infotainment system sits in the dash with Ford’s Sync 4 interface. It’s one of the best in the business and the Corsair takes full advantage of that.

Not only is the menu of features deep but Lincoln also allows the driver to control some infotainment functions with steering-wheel-mounted controls. In Premiere trim, the Corsair gets a 10-speaker sound system that we like but a 14-unit Revel system is standard on the Reserve and worth the premium in our eyes. Its additional base and fuller sound make for a much richer experience.

Finally, Lincoln offers a comprehensive driver safety aid system including blind-spot warning, evasive steering assist, lane-keep assist, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, rear automatic braking, and intersection collision mitigation. On top of all of that, Lincoln offers ActiveGlide (Ford’s BlueCruise but with a different name) for four years in the Corsair. We’d love to see other automakers at least offer these safety-focused technologies. That being said, the Corsair didn’t win any safety awards with the IIHS for crash safety.

Grand Touring – $55,320

The Grand Touring comes with the hybrid drivetrain as standard equipment. It also adds a panoramic sunroof, an adaptive suspension, and Grand Touring exclusive exterior trim. To truly get all of the bells and whistles one has to add additional packages onto the Grand Touring which can jack the price up into the mid $60,000s.

2024 Lincoln Corsair Overall Value 8/10

The Corsair is good but it fails to compete at the top of the segment. It could use sharper handling, a bit more power, and more options. Beyond that, it passes the Lincoln test of attainable luxury thanks to rich materials, great technology, and above-average comfort.

We like the way that the Corsair improves just about every facet of the Ford Escape. It lives up to the Lincoln badge and also includes advanced tech that most buyers will enjoy. It’s not the sharpest SUV in the box though and it can be extremely expensive in Grand Touring guise. Perusing our new car incentives article is a must for prospective Corsair buyers. Finally, Lincoln doesn’t offer the same complimentary maintenance on it as it does on other products. Those are aspects where it could improve.
