Genesis hasn’t changed too much for the G70 in 2023. The entire lineup now sports 19-inch wheels. The 2.0T Sport Prestige comes with ventilated seats and alloy pedals. And the 3.3T gets a power trunk.

Genesis offers two different engines inside of the G70. The base motor is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that develops 252 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. It’s a snappy and fun engine with no major drawbacks. At higher RPMs, it can be a touch buzzy and louder than its V6 counterpart but we like it nonetheless. It’s also more fuel efficient than the V6 but we’ll get to that shortly.
The twin-turbocharged 3.3-liter V6 is downright powerful with 365 horsepower on tap and 376 lb-ft of torque to go with it. Sprinting from 0-60 takes just 4.7-seconds which is fantastic for a car at this price with all of this luxury. On top of that, it has some of the best steering feel we’ve encountered this year. It’s on par with high-end sedans like the BMW 3-Series and the Audi A4.
All G70s start out as RWD but AWD is available across the entire lineup. We found it made little difference in our testing though performance enthusiasts will likely want to go for the rear-driven car. It’s a little lighter and a lot more fun in the bends.
According to the EPA, the Genesis can get up to 21 mpg in the city and 31 on the highway. To achieve those figures you’ll need the 2.0T with RWD only. Every other Genesis sees a drop off to one degree or another in fuel economy. That’s below average for the segment but not so bad that we knock it too hard.
While the G70 isn’t a compact sedan, it’s also no limo either. The seating spaces are best described as cozy. That’s not to say cramped though and we think that it’s a great space for you and a few of your friends on a long trip or two. The driving position is great and visibility is above average too. We love the high-end materials used throughout the cabin. Beautiful touches to the little details like excellent switchgear and quality stitching make it stand out in this segment. Unlike in the 2022 model, this year’s G70 gets aluminum pedals across the lineup.
On top of that, it’s quiet in the cabin at any speed and over almost any road surface. This sedan might cost less than $60,000 when fully loaded but it feels at least that expensive if not even more so. If there’s a downside of the Genesis G70’s interior it has to be cargo space. The trunk offers just 10.5 cubic feet of cargo area. On top of that, the rear seats don’t fold down flat either.
At the heart of the G70 technology package is a 10.25-inch infotainment system. It’s equipped with wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity but using either isn’t necessary. The system itself is great for most functions. The touchscreen is responsive, the menus are intuitive, and the graphics are clear and understandable.
The digital gauge cluster looks great too and we especially love the blind-spot monitor on the top-trim 3.3T Sport Prestige. It adds a real-time view of your blind spot into the cluster any time a turn signal is activated. Those who want it can also add a heads-up display which we found highly useful and engaging.
Neither the IIHS nor the NHTSA have yet to release safety information on the 2023 Genesis G70 but last year, the IIHS named it a Top Safety Pick+. On top of that, it’s hard to ignore the outstanding safety package included on every G70 including adaptive cruise, lane-centering assist, and automated emergency braking.
The base G70 starts out with the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine and rear-wheel drive. It also gets 19-inch wheels, power-adjustable heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, LED headlights, faux leather upholstery, a digital gauge cluster, a 10.25-inch infotainment system, six speakers, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, integrated navigation, and keyless entry.
All-wheel drive is optional across the lineup. Standard safety features include adaptive cruise control, forward collision mitigation, lane-keep assist, lane-centering assist, driver attention warning, and rear-seat reminder.
Buyers can also add the Sport Prestige package to the 2.0T. It adds a sunroof, automatic wipers, driver’s seat memory functions, dark chrome exterior trim, ventilated front seats, a wireless charging pad, a 15-speaker Lexicon sound system, leather upholstery, and parking sensors.
This trim gets the bigger twin-turbocharged V6 but is otherwise almost identical to the 2.0T. Additional equipment includes automatic wipers, leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel for those who also get AWD, a sport-tuned suspension, performance brakes, and power-folding mirrors.
Much like the 2.0T, buyers can add additional packages to the 3.3T. The Sport Advanced package adds a sports exhaust system, power-adjustable seat bolsters, and a thigh-cushion extension to the driver’s seat. Genesis also adds its Digital Key technology.
Above that is the Sport Prestige package which includes premium leather upholstery, a microfiber suede headliner, a 360-degree camera system, an adaptive suspension, a power trunk lid, a heads-up display, upgraded performance brakes, and blind-spot view monitors in the gauge cluster.
Every Genesis G70 comes with an exceptional warranty package including five years or 60,000-miles of limited coverage and 10 years or 100,000-miles of powertrain coverage. On top of that, Genesis covers the first three years or 36,000 miles of the car’s life with complimentary maintenance. That’s unbeaten by any other car company anywhere regardless of price or segment.

The 2023 Genesis G70 embarrasses most of its competition with a package so good that it can’t be overlooked. From its agile and powerful driving characteristics to its luxurious interior and its killer warranty, it’s a no-brainer that we can’t help but recommend. Same car as the Kia Stinger in most ways except for the big hatch amd excellent interior. I was going to buy one but the rear seat is a Joke. Maybe 4″ of leg room which is ridiculous. Still nice service but I liked the Stinger better as a daily driver driver’s car.
Safety will drive you crazy for sure! Love that twin turbo that never lags. Still need a C8 for serious fun though.
